From TCFS - Virtual Kids Camp

This has been a month of learning, growing and new experiences! Our kids have settled into a routine of academic learning at home and plenty of physical activity. We have been impressed by the online resources dedicated to keeping kids moving during the school closures. We have linked some popular favorites below.

GoNoodle - Fun, musical, and creative videos for kids to follow along with. 

Cosmic Kids Yoga - Yoga that is appealing and engaging for kids.

P.E. With Joe - A daily P.E. workout with an energetic coach.

Workout Window

We would encourage you to look UP on your neighborhood walks. An older couple in our neighborhood has been putting up daily activities and words of encouragement in their front window. Our favorite was their “Workout Window”! Make one for your neighbors!

Some exercise ideas that this couple posted on their window:

  • Run
  • 10 jumping jacks
  • 30 second of “running the tires”
  • 10 squats
  • Skip
  • 10 burpees
  • Two minute plank hold
  • 10 lunges
  • 100 sit-ups

Create your own window for passerby’s during these stay-at-home times!

Gymnastics at Home

Each sport has skills that can be worked on at home in a small space. Gymnastics is no different! We saw a video this week of Olympian Simone Biles putting in handstand work in her living room.

Our friend and health expert, Michelle Norris, shared two simple movements that parents can implement at home with their kids. Michelle was a gymnast as a child and believes that participation in gymnastics at a young age prepares children for athletics throughout their lives. She went on to be a Division I diver at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and now works as a director of corporate wellness.
